Un error muy común es pronunciar las letras mudas que llevan muchas palabras. Así que quita la L de palabras como would, could, should, half, walk. . .y en lugar de “take a güa-l-k”, take a WOK!
Muchas veces la pronunciación correcta de una palabra resulta más fácil que la incorrecta, porque muchas palabras incluyen letras mudas que complican la ortografia, pero que no deberían complicar tu pronunciación!
Practica estas palabras en voz alta. Si te resulta difícil no pronunciar una letra mientras visualizas la palabra, simplemente visualiza una combinación de letras que refleje mejor la pronunciación.
Palabras con una l que no se pronuncia:
walk = wok
talk = tok
could = cood (similar a good)
should = shood
would = wood (igual que madera)
half = haf
folks = fouks
gh es casi siempre muda:
daughter = dotter (y no doctor!)
taught = tot
caught = cot
brought = brot
bought = bot
thought = zot
though = zou
through = zru
weight = weit (igual que to wait)
height = hait
fight = fait
A veces gh se pronuncia como una f:
enough = enaf
tough = taf
rough = raf
laugh = laf
con b
doubt = daut
debt = det
dumb = dam
thumb = tham

Me quito el sombrero con este articulo. Al principio de llegar a Londres ni dios me entendia cuando decia que me iba a dar un paseo por el centro, hasta que mi companyera de piso se apiado de mi y me aclaro que en “walk” la “l” no se pronuncia.
Algunas de las otras palabras con letras mudas las conocia, pero otras han sido una sorpresa
Tienes que saber pronunciar bien para que te entiendan, pero también para tu entender a la persona que te habla

Si no me equivoco , quieres decir
You have to have good pronunciation if you want people to understand you, and also in order to understand what other people say!

Yes, English and American pronunciation are different, but if I were you I wouldn’t worry too much about imitating one or the other . The most important thing is to avoid big pronunciation mistakes like the ones I talk about on the site.
I’d say one of the biggest differences is that in the US we pronounce the R more strongly (also in Ireland, I think). Also a lot of the vowel sounds are a little different. And in the US we sometimes pronounce the t a little more like a d (like when we say “water”).
But again , things like the silent letters in these words or the way we say “Spain” are the same in all varieties of English.

English has 12 vowels if you want to learn differents sounds you need to practice.Anyway consonants are differents as well,English d is not like Spanish( one example do if you pronounce like Spanish sound you are telling tho),English z is not Spanish z(to close finish in z when is a verb but if it s an adjective finish in s) and so on…It s summary about pronunciation.I love English!!.
