Yes, a funcionario could be a “state worker”, although I don’t think that really expresses the idea that the job is for life. Anyway, good luck with oposiciones!

Ahora intentaré hacer un aporte: en la parte de ‘que hagas una oposición a funcionario’ pienso que también se podría haber traducido como ‘apply for the government’

Me he divertido mucho comparando mi ejercicio con el tuyo y observando lo rica que puede ser una traducción según los matices que se utilices. ¡Yo quiero hablar y escribir inglés en condiciones algún día! Lo cual me parece misión imposible. Saludos

Exceptional explanations and really useful. I’m glad too, to have these two atypical “mates” among us. It’s very amazing to see the whole family working together and helping people as you do. I’m not sure if they need to improve their Spanish, but for us the three English versions are perfect.

I really think this ist the best forum to improve our English.
This last exercise has been funny and very, very useful. I have learnt a lot about my own mistakes and also from the others´s students mistakes.
