ventajas de ser incompetente: un ejercicio de traducción
Traducir textos sencillos del español al inglés es un ejercicio muy útil. En este post os doy la primera parte de un monólogo del Club de la Comedia y vosotros la traducís al inglés. Puedes colgar tu traducción en la sección de comentarios debajo del texto, y cuando se acumulen unas cuantas versiones ya os comentaré cuales son los errores principales que cometéis.
Tened mucho cuidado en no traducir literalmente cuando no se debe (por ejemplo, las preposiciones y los tiempos verbales).

Para triunfar en la vida hay dos caminos. El primero es ser un genio. Pero eso es muy difícil, hay que trabajar mucho, ir por delante de tu tiempo y, encima, la mayoría de las veces no te lo reconocen hasta después de muerto. El otro camino es ser un incompetente, que es mucho más fácil y, además, te lo reconocen en vida. Por eso yo estoy pensando en convertirme en un incompetente, porque todos son ventajas.
Para empezar, tienes muchos más modelos en los que fijarte. ¿Quién no conoce a un incompetente? Ya de pequeños, cuando se rompía el tren, decías a tu madre:
–Mamá, te lo pido por favor, que no me lo arregle papá.
